Local Media
Carol participates in the monthly Pause for Pets page in Rhinelander's Star Journal, where local pet owners have the opportunity to ask dog or cat related questions. Carol offers tips and advice for that pet owner.

Relay for Life
TLC Dog Training has participated in the Relay for Life for the past four years in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, raising money for the American Cancer Society event.
At the event, TLC also raised money for the Animal Cancer Foundation "Creating better cancer cures for pets." Carol started the Dog Walk event, where people could take their pets for a walk around the track. Before starting the walk, they had the option of purchasing luminaries in memory or in honor of their pets.
Our pets are part of the family as well and we must not forget what they have given us in our lives.

Taylor Park Nursing Home Visits
We have fun doing this event every year. The dogs and handlers love to see the faces turn into smiles. We show them what our dogs can do, like tricks and games.

Have Faith in Your Dog!

H = Have a PLAN before you begin to teach your dog something.
A = Always expect the same behavior — i.e. sit always means sit.
V = Vary your training sessions and keep them short (5-10 minutes.)
E = Expect to experience the behavior you reward.

F = Follow through with each command — never give a command you cannot reinforce.
A = Allow no grey into your relationship with your dog. Black and white!
I = Ignore the negative, reward the positive.
T = The more consistent you are, the more consistent your dog will be.
H = Hyper dogs are harder to teach — go for a walk!

I = It is never too late to teach your dog something.
N = "No" is not your dog's first name.

Y = You determine how your dog will behave.
O = Opportunities to train your dog are limited by your imagination.
U = Use your dog's name only if you need to get their attention.
R = "Release" words end in a behavior — i.e. "Ok" or "Free."

D = Dogs come from the womb needing a leader.
O = Our job is to be that leader.
G = God made them to love you unconditionally — love them back the same.
